This Diwali is going to be a real treat for film buffs as some interesting films are expected to release.

According to senior film journalist Sreedhar Pillai, the three big films - Ajith's "Arrambam", Karthi's "All in All Azhagu Raja" and Vikram Prabhu's "Ivan Veramathiri" are releasing during the festive season. Sreedhar said that two of the three films would make it to the theatres while one might back out.

"Diwali 2013 Countdown - 60 days b4 release, in the race -  #Arrambam #Allnallazhaguraja & #Ivanveramathiri . 1 out of this will drop out," Sreedhar tweeted.

Arrambam

Ajith's Arrambam is an action entertainer directed by Vishnu Vardhan. The "Billa" team - Ajith, Nayathara, Vishnu and Yuvan Shankar Raja - are joining hands once again for "Arrambam", which has generated a lot of buzz among their fans.

All in Azhagu Raja

This Tamil romantic-comedy entertainer has Karthi teaming up with director Rajesh. Santhanam, a regular in Rajesh's films, will provide comic relief in "All in Azhagu Raja" as well. Veterans Prabhu and Saranya Ponvannan will be seen in pivotal roles.

Ivan Veramathiri

Ivan Veramathiri will be Vikram Prabhu's second film after the super-successful "Kumki". This time the actor has chosen a city-based subject directed by Saravanan of "Engeyum Eppodhum" fame. The romantic-thriller is co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures and director N Lingusamy's Thirrupathi Brothers.

Besides these films, "Irandam Ulagam" and the much-delayed "Vaalu" were also reportedly set for a Diwali release. But it seems Arya and Simbu's films are not in the race any more.

Kamal Haasan's "Vishwaroopam 2" was also expected to be a Diwali treat for his fans, but the versatile actor reportedly prefers to have a solo release so as to get a wide opening in India and overseas markets.

Sreedhar said that the sequel to spy-thriller "Vishwaroopam" could possibly release in November of December. "#Vishwaroopam2 . My sources r telling me it will b a solo release Nov/Dec 2 get max screens & Hindi version gets wide opening," he tweeted.

However, there is no official confirmation on the release date of the afore-mentioned films. There is another big budget film due for release this year - Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiyaan". It is an epic drama which is in the making for more than a year.

So far, only a couple of the film's posters have been unveiled to fans. But for the first time, the official teaser of "Kochadaiyaan" will be released on 9 September. Post-production work is in full swing and the film is expected to hit the screens in November or December.
