Ajith's "Thala 55" (his 55th film) is likely to release in December this year, while the film's audio launch is expected to happen in November.

"Thala 55" is one of the most-awaited films among fans. Ever since the film went on floors, details about the project has been kept under wraps.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for the film's title as well as the first-look posters. Earlier there were reports that the title and the first-looks will be released on Ganesh Chaturthi, but it did not happen, much to the disappointment of the fans.

In an interview to The Times of India, director Gautham Menon has stated that the film's title has been finalised and it will be announced around the time when the audio launch happens. Menon also said his team is planning to release the film in December.

"We have a title, but we want to wait before announcing it. There is so much buzz around it and this is exactly what a hero's film is all about. We are planning to release the film this December and the audio launch in November - we're planning to announce the title around this time," Menon told the daily.

Ajith will be playing the character named Sathyadev. According to reports, the actor will be appearing in the role of an investigative officer. Anushka Shetty and Trisha Krishnan will be playing the female leads, while other cast members include Arun Vijay, Vivek, Thalaivasal Vijay, Baby Anikha, Malayalam actress Devi Ajith and Rajasimman of "Kuttipuli" fame among others.

Harris Jayaraj will be working on the soundtracks and there will be six songs in the album. Songs have always been the highlight in all Menon's films. His collaboration with Harris has been hugely successful and tracks in their films have turned out to be chartbusters.

After nearly six years, the director and the composer have teamed up for "Thala 55." It will be the first time that Harris will be scoring for Ajith's film and there are huge expectations for the songs. Fans will be expecting nothing short of a hit album from them.

Produced by AM Ratnam, "Thala 55" is touted to be an action thriller flick. The film's shooting, which commenced in April, is progressing well and is expected to be wrapped up in October.
