The year 2014 witnessed a bunch of Bollywood's popular celebs who had no films releasing this year, yet managed to grab headlines.

Have a look at some of the popular celebs who have been in the news this year.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: The former Miss World has been in the news for her comeback film "Jazbaa". The much anticipated film will mark the beauty queen's return to the silver screen after a hiatus of three years. The shooting of Sanjay Gupta's "Jazbaa" will start in December.

Like every year, the actress grabbed eyeballs when she walked the red carpet in a gold off-shoulder dress at the Cannes Film Festival. A well-known figure in the International circuit, Aishwarya's appearance at the prestigious film festival is one of the most awaited moments of the event.

Ranbir Kapoor: Kapoor has been making news throughout the year more because of his alleged relationship with Katrina Kaif than his films. He first created a huge buzz when it emerged that he planned to move out of his ancestral house and rent a house with alleged girlfriend Kaif. Later, the "Jagga Jasoos" stars were in news again when they made a sea-facing penthouse in Bandra their love nest, for which they are reportedly shelling out a whopping ₹15 lakh per month as rent.

Kajol: Kajol's fans rejoiced when the talented actress decided to make a comeback with Ram Madhvani's film, but she later chose to opt out of the project for reasons best known to her. Kajol is now reportedly set to make her comeback in Rohit Shetty's film opposite her friend Shah Rukh Khan.

Last week, Kajol was seen promoting her 1995 blockbuster "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (DDLJ) as it completed 1,000 weeks of run at Mumbai's Maratha Mandir theatre. The entire cast of the film including Shah Rukh Khan celebrated the success of the film by promoting the romantic drama on reality shows.

Genelia Deshmukh: Genelia made headlines early this year when her husband and actor Riteish Deshmukh revealed that the actress is pregnant. And on 25 November, the couple was blessed with a baby boy at Breach Candy Hospital. Soon after, pictures of the adorable baby went viral on the internet.

Earlier this year, Genelia who produced Riteish's first debut Marathi film "Lai Bhaari", made news when the film broke all records in regional box office.

Shilpa Shetty: Actress, entrepreneur and co-owner of Rajasthan Royals team in Indian Premiere League (IPL), Shetty is quite active among public. The actress also debuted as a producer in 2014 with "Dishkiyaaoon" starring Harman Baweja. However, the film flopped at the box office.

Arjun Rampal: The hot actor has been in news ever since his close friends Hrithik Roshan and now ex-wife Sussanne Khan announced their divorce. Rampal's proximity to Sussanne was initially rumoured to be the reason behind the couple's split.

Rampal also came under the scanner, when a leading daily claimed that Rampal's wife had found out that Sussanne and Rampal had travelled abroad to spend some quality time with each other. However, it turned out that the news was a hoax, when the "Rock On!" star took to his Twitter handle to slam the rumours.

John Abraham: Abraham, who owns NorthEast United FC, has been in the news this year due his team's performance at the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL).

The actor was also in news after he signed Anees Bazmee's "Welcome Back", which is the sequel to the 2007 blockbuster "Welcome". The shooting for the film is currently going on.
