Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will make her comeback on silver screen opposite John Abraham.

Aishwarya Rai will be making her big screen comeback after a gap of four years with Sanjay Gupta's action thriller film "Jazbaa." The 40-year-old actress will be paired opposite "Dhoom" actor in the upcoming film, Pune Mirror reported.

Abraham's role in the film is based on gangster Abu Salem's life after he was deported to India.

"John is very happy to work with Aishwarya. He loved the role and immediately said yes," a source close to the film told the tabloid.

Abraham has previously worked with Gupta in three films, including "Zinda", "Shootout at Lokhandwala" and "Shootout at Wadala."

While, in all the three films Abraham played the lead role, in "Jazbaa" Aishwarya Rai is playing the lead role.

Gupta had previously said that his upcoming film is a complete action thriller in which Aishwarya will be playing a strong female lead.

However, the "Madras Café" actor will still have a prominent role in the film.

"John's role may not be very big in 'Jazba', but it is a significant part of the story," the source added.

Aishwarya announced about her comeback film during her Cannes appearance this year in May. The director later took to Twitter to announce the same.

Gupta has also roped in Hollywood stunt director Spiro Razatos, who will be directing the action scenes for the Bollywood diva, The Times of India reported.

"Jazbaa will be an action thriller drama, in which Aishwarya features as a very strong female lead. In fact, her character is so strong that she is more like the hero of the film, than a lead actress," the director told Bollywood Hungama in May.

Apart from "Jazbaa," the former Miss World is also working on two more projects, including Mani Ratnam's untitled film and Prahlad Kakkar's directorial debut "Happy Anniversary."

Ratnam's untitled film was supposed to go on floors in June, but due to date issues of the other lead actors, the film's shooting got postponed.

In the second film "Happy Anniversary," she is paired opposite her husband Abhishek Bachchan. Also, former beauty queen Sushmita Sen will be seen sharing screen space with Aishwarya-Abhishek in the film.
