No-frills airline AirAsia India on Monday rolled out a promotional offer named as 'Big Sale', offering tickets priced as low as Rs 799 all inclusive.

Ticket bookings under the offer will end on 28 June. The travel period under the promotional offer will be between February 15, 2016 and August 31, 2016.

Under the new offer, passengers can fly from Bengaluru to Kochi at Rs 799, while Bengaluru-Pune and Bengaluru-Visakhapatnam travel will cost Rs 999, NDTV Profit reported.

The fare for Bengaluru-Jaipur starts at Rs 1,599, while tickets for Bengaluru-Chandigarh and Bengaluru-New Delhi routes are priced at Rs 1,799 and Rs 1,999 respectively.

Intensifying competition in the domestic aviation industry has forced many players to introduce discounts quite often to improve the occupancy. Entry of low cost carrier AirAsia and full service airline Vistara has further intensified the competition.

In May, AirAsia started operating from New Delhi, besides expanding its list of flying destinations to Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The national capital will now act as a base for the Indo-Malaysian low cost carrier to cater to the north Indian market.

AirAsia operates flights to Chennai, Kochi, Goa, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Pune with Bengaluru as the south Indian hub.

Some other carriers had also announced discount offers for the monsoon season to rev up the demand, as July-September quarter is considered as lean period for the domestic airlines.

While state-owned Air India had announced a discount sale with fares starting as low as ₹1,777 for domestic destinations, SpiceJet's one-way fares started at ₹1,299.

Following other carriers, IndiGo also rolled out a flash sale, with fares starting as low as ₹1,727.

Domestic airlines witnessed a 21 per cent growth in passenger traffic to 251.05 lakh during January-April 2015 as compared to 207 lakh in the same period last year.
