Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor, who recently bagged the lead role in the Hindi remake of "OK Kanmani" opposite Aditya Roy Kapur, is now making headlines for reportedly being roped in for Mohit Suri's "Half Girlfriend". The film has been in news since the beginning for casting of lead actor and actress.

The makers of "Half Girlfriend" had intially finalised Sushant Singh Rajput as the lead actor, but he backed out of the project. Speculations said Shahid Kapoor would star in the film, but no official confirmation has been made yet.

Now, recent buzz is Shraddha will be the lead actress, according to the Times of India. Earlier, names of several Bollywood actresses like Kriti Sanon, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif were making rounds for the role. However, Kriti turned down the project due to date issues.

"Half Girlfriend" is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's eponymous book, and will be co-produced by the author himself. It seems after other actresses turned down the offer, Suri found it safe to cast the "Aashiqui 3" and "Ek Villain" actress.

If Shahid plays the character of the Bihari lover boy opposite Shraddha, this will be their second movie together after "Haider". A source told TOI Shraddha has signed the film and is super excited about it.

Meanwhile, Shraddha has several projects on her hands, like "Baaghi: A Rebel For Love" opposite Tiger Shroff and "Rock On 2" with Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal. Recently, Mani Ratnam roped her in his Hindi remake of Tamil film "OK Kanmani", which starred Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen.
