Shahid Kapoor's ever-expanding list of demands may just irk the makers of "Padmavati."

After asking Sanjay Leela Bhansali to re-write his role, the young star has apparently hiked his fee for this one. He will be paid Rs. 6 crore, which is double the fee, for the period film, DNA reported.

However, this is all a speculation and something that is hard to believe after what Sanjay's spokesperson had to say. "The reports surrounding the star cast remuneration for 'Padmavati' are completely false. The rumours are baseless and are being blown out of proportion," the spokesperson elaborated.

Meanwhile, there are contrasting reports claiming that Shahid may consider opting out of "Padmavati" as he isn't ready to resume work as yet. The star wants to be around his wife and newborn baby girl for as long as he can before his jam packed schedule kick-starts.

This becomes easy because Shahid has only verbally agreed to be part of the project and is yet to sign the dotted line, which is why makers are still on the lookout for actors who can essay the role of a king on silver screen.

Also, sources have said that Shahid's height does not match Deepika Padukone's and considering they will be playing a couple in "Padmavati," it would look odd if they didn't complement each other.

In other news, Ranveer Singh has been roped in to play shrewd ruler Alauddin Khilji. But the part didn't come easy to him. After he demanded a script narration from Sanjay, he showed him the door and approached other stars for the role. However, they have now ironed out their differences and is ready to begin the film sometime this month.
