Aditya Roy Kapur seems to be in luck with reports of him being considered for "Fitoor" opposite Katrina Kaif, after Sushant Singh Rajput walked out of the project.

As per reports, the "Aashiqui 2" star is in the priority list of the Abhishek Kapoor-directorial, which incidentally will be produced by UTV Motion Pictures, headed by Aditya's brother Siddharth Roy Kapur.

Some reports had previously stated that newbie Sushant has dumped his mentor Abhishek Kapoor and moved on to Shekhar Kapur's international collaboration "Paani". But a source close to the "Kai Po Che" star revealed, "It is almost as if they didn't want him (Sushant) to do the film so they kept postponing it till his dates clashed with another film and he was left with no option but to back off," reported Daily News Analysis.

Further, the report stated that "Fitoor" was initially set to be produced under Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Films and with the change in the guard to UTV, the project got delayed which affected Sushant's already allotted dates.

The actor had also requested to accommodate a different schedule but the filmmakers were helpless, as the female lead Katrina too had allotted her dates accordingly.

However be the case, Sushant's slip is certainly Aditya's gain.

There has been no official announcement on Aditya being roped in for the part yet but a statement from UTV Pictures is expected soon.

Presently, Aditya has been signed for YRF's "Dawaat-e-Ishq" opposite the bubbly actress Parineeti Chopra. The couple were even spotted watching a film together, leading to dating speculations.

On the other hand, Sushant has his hands full with Dibakar Bannerjee's next, "Byomkesh", a detective thriller, along with the ambitious "Paani".

Both Aditya and Sushant had graced the cover of Femina in July this year along with Arjun Kapoor. The trio has been touted as the next gen of heroes in the industry.
