When entire Tamil Nadu is mourning the demise of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Tamil actor Karunas has been criticised for taking a selfie on the occasion of her funeral.

In the photo, the comedian is seen posing with a smiling face along with a fan that is said to have been taken during the funeral ceremony of the actress-turned-politician on December 6. The selfie that has gone viral on social media has not gone down well with the followers and fans of Jayalalithaa. However, at the time of reporting, IBTimes India cannot verify when and where the photo was actually taken.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Amma, who breathed her last on December 5, was kept at Rajaji Hall in Chennai for film stars, political leaders, other dignitaries and her followers to pay tribute to her. It was on September 22 that Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai due to fever and dehydration. Two months later, the doctors announced that she had fully recovered, but the 68-year-old leader suffered a cardiac arrest immediately after the announcement, leading to her death.
