Acer Unveils Windows 8.1 OS Powered Tablet PC Iconia W4

After weeks of photo leaks and speculation, Taiwanese PC maker Acer has finally unveiled the much anticipated tablet Iconia W4 in the US.

The new Acer tablet sports an 8.0-inch IPS HD (1280x800p) display with 170-degree viewing angle; it also boasts Zero Air Gap technology, where in it eliminates air between the touch panel and LCD module so that the reflection on the tablet screen is reduced and users will have less trouble viewing contents under direct sun light, said the company.

Under-the-hood, it packs the fourth generation Intel Atom 1.8GHz processor aptly backed by the new updated Windows 8.1 OS, which comes with colourful refreshing interface having improved App view, customisable (icons) tiles size and Start button back on the screen, which was missing in the previous iteration.

The Iconia W4 houses a 5.0-megapixel camera at the rear and a 2.0-megapixel secondary camera at the front. Both cameras are understood to have the ability to record full HD videos.

Acer has reportedly confirmed that the Iconia W4 will be made available in two variants: 32GB-$330 (₹20,230) and 64GB-$380 (₹23,300) and will go on sale in the US markets this month. The company is also said to offer a couple of optional accessories: Crunch Cover $40(₹2,450) and Crunch Keyboard (with Bluetooth support) $80 (₹4,900) separately. However, there is no word on when the new tablet would be released in other markets.
