Acer Unveils Google OS Powered Touch-Screen Chromebook C720P

Taiwanese PC maker, Acer has unveiled the company's first ever touch-screen Chromebook C720P, an advanced version of the C720, which made its debut in India last month.

"Our new touchscreen C720P gives customers an intuitive way to browse sites online, enjoy apps, and do more with the Chromebook," said Arif Maskatia, CTO, Acer.

"The Acer C720 Chromebook line has been praised for its performance and battery life, and this new touchscreen model allows us to address the needs of an even wider range of customers with exciting new capabilities. We're certain many holiday shoppers will jump at the chance to get a touchscreen Chromebook for just $299.99," he added.

Chromebook C720P sports 11.6-inch touch sensitive Acer ComfyView HD (1366x768p) display and runs on the Google Chrome OS powered by the Intel's Celeron 2955U processor with 2GB DDR3 RAM and 32GB SSD.

The new Acer notebook boasts of fast booting speed. It can awake from sleep in less than seven seconds and features Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) for wireless internet connection.

Chromebook C720P will initially go on sale in US via online stores Amazon, Best Buy and Acer Store for $299.99 (around ₹18, 708), but details regarding the release of the device in other markets are still under wraps.

Google Chromebooks, first launched in 2011 by Acer and Samsung, have slowly but steadily begun getting traction in western market (especially in US) due to wide reach of internet availability and are slowly foraying in to emerging markets.

Last month, Google's OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) partners Acer along with HP for the first time introduced the Chrome OS powered notebooks - Chromebook C720 and Chromebook 14 in India.
