The 17-year-old son of Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan is all set to follow his father's footsteps and make his debut in the film industry.

The teenage son of actor Aamir Khan and ex-wife Reena Dutta - Junaid Khan, has shown keen interest in filmmaking and has decided on an early start for his film career.

However, Junaid will not venture into Bollywood as an actor but as an assistant for well-known filmmaker in an upcoming project.

While Aamir is busy with his most ambitious noble project "Satyameva Jayate", Junaid is all set to assist director Rajkumar Hirani in his latest film "Peekay" starring his own dad and actress Anushka Sharma.

However, it wasn't easy for Junaid to convince his father.

Apparently, Aamir was at first apprehensive about his son's studies, since he was considered too young to venture into the film world. The actor later gave a nod to his wish, taking Junaid's assurance that he will not let his studies suffer.

It took a lot to convince his perfectionist dad that the glitz and glamour of the film industry will not steer him away from his path, and that he will continue to excel in his education.

Though the star son will be constantly monitored by his father on the sets of the film, Junaid has reportedly impressed the director with his keen eye for direction.

"Junaid has always been fascinated by the various aspects of filmmaking. He used to often accompany his father to the sets of his films. He always had a viewpoint. And Aamir was rather impressed with it," a source told Mumbai Mirror.

The National Award-winning director Rajkumar Hirani is credited for making cult classic blockbuster films like "Munna Bhai MBBS", "Lage Raho Munna Bhai" and "3 Idiots" starring Aamir Khan.

"What better way to begin his film career than assisting a director who has had a string of successful films - the Munna Bhai series and 3 Idiots," the source said.

Well, unlike most star sons, Junaid is not interested in becoming an actor, but is rather keener on working behind the camera.

Hope this works well for the upcoming perfectionist in the making!
