Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is all set to play a double role in the upcoming action thriller "Dhoom 3".

The 40-year-old actor had played varied roles in films and in advertisements, the latest one being a Godrej commercial which showed him in a woman avatar. However, this is the first time he will slip into a double role.

Confirming the reports, a source from the "Dhoom 3" team said, "While everyone knows that Aamir will be seen in a completely negative avatar in D3, what most don't know is that he will also be seen in a double role, which will blow away people's minds," reported DNA newspaper.

It was also revealed that the role, conceived by producer Aditya Chopra, is a surprise element that emerges towards the end of the film.

Now as Aamir dons the dual act, we reminisce some of Bollywood's best double role acts.

Classic films like "Seeta Aur Geeta" (1972), "Don" (1978), "Ram Aur Shyam" (1967) ands "Hum Dono" had Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand playing dual roles. In 1997, Salman Khan was seen in a twin brother act for "Judwaa" (1997) followed by Shah Rukh Khan's "Duplicate in 1998.

Last year, Akshay Kumar delivered a massive hit with "Rowdy Rathore", where he alternately played a cop and a thief.

Coming to this year's upcoming films, Hrithik Roshan will be seen playing a doting father and a superhero son in "Krrish 3".  Salman Khan reportedly will have twin roles for Sooraj Barjatiya's family drama "Bade Bhaiya". His former lover Katrina Kaif will feature in the remake of "Seeta Aur Geeta" in a double role.
