Bollywood actor Aamir Khan reportyedly doesn't attend Indian award functions as he feels they lack credibility but he seems to be fine with such events held abroad, as he was spotted setting off for Washington on Sunday for an award function.

The 48-year-old actor has been selected for US award for his television show 'Satyamev Jayate'. He will be honoured on Monday along with Hollywood director Kathryn Bigelow and the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict at an award dinner hosted by America Abroad Media (AAM) in Washington.

Aamir Khan was spotted at Mumbai airport enroute to Washington on Sunday, wearing stylish outfit - cargo pants, sweatshirt and a black hat.

The actor is currently awaiting the release of "Dhoom 3", which features Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in the lead roles. It is the third installment of "Dhoom" series and is scheduled for release on 20 December.

Sources told Zoom TV channel that producer Aditya Chopra is planning to start promoting the film aggressively after the release of "Krrish 3" starring Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra.

The hype around "Dhoom 3", directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya has been so far so good with the trailer, which was released on 4 September, receiving more than 1.2 crore views.
