India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki cemented its supremacy in volume sales in April. Seven Maruti Suzuki car models have figured among in the 10 top selling passenger vehicles in April. According to the data released by Automotive Research Association of India, top three best-selling passenger vehicles are also Maruti Suzuki models.

Maruti Suzuki Alto retained the bestselling vehicle tag with 16,583 units sales last month. However, its sales have fallen by nearly 23 percent compared to 21,531 units in April last year, Business Standard reported. Another hatchback from the company, the Swift found 15,661 takers to become the second best-selling passenger vehicle (PV). The Swift also witnessed fall in sales. Maruti Suzuki sold 18,444 units of Swift in April 2015. Maruti Suzuki's tall boy, the WagonR, is the third best-selling PV in April. The WagonR found 15,323 takers last month improving from 13,872 units in April 2015.

Hyundai's hatchback, Elite i20, is the fourth best-selling PV. The Korean carmaker sold 11,147 units in April 2016, while sales figure in the same month last year was 12,425 units. Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire slipped to fifth from the podium. The company sold 10,083 units of DZire in April 2016, registering a massive fall from the 6,490 unit sales in the  same month last year.

Another Hyundai model, the Grand i10, is the six best-selling PV. Hyundai sold 9,840 units of Grand i10 last month. Renault's small car Kwid stood at seventh slot with 9,795 unit sales. Maruti Suzuki's premium hatchback Baleno's sales were 9,562 units in April and it sealed eighth spot. Maruti Suzuki Celerio with 8,548 units sale became ninth, while van Omni sealed tenth position with 8,356 unit sales in April 2016.
