Apple has had a lot to share at its Worldwide Developer's Conference 2017 (WWDC 2017) event. It announced the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro, TvOS, WatchOS 4, MacBook & iMac, MacOS 10, HomePod, iMac Pro, and iOS 11, and it was just impossible to include all the details of the new products and its software in its keynote presentation.

The new operating system, iOS 11, was one of the most-awaited announcements at the WWDC. But several important features were not mentioned in the keynote presentation, which means many people who were following the event could not get a clear picture of the OS and what it offers.

So we list five simple yet awesome features of Apple's iOS 11 that can change users' experience but which were left out at the WWDC 2017:

Type to Siri

Users who don't want to ask queries with voice can now type to Siri in iOS 11. The new OS also comes with built-in real-time translations. It will initially support translation of English words and phrases to Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish, but more languages are expected to be added to the list in future.

"Siri extends beyond voice, using on-device learning to deliver more personal experiences and offers suggestions based on personal usage of Safari, News, Mail, Messages and more. For example, as Siri learns topics or places a user is interested in while browsing Safari, they will be suggested when typing in Mail, Messages and other apps," Apple said in a statement.

One-handed keyboard mode

Apple said this new feature will make typing on the go even easier. A new QuickType keyboard on iPad delivers quick access to numbers, symbols and punctuation. It will help those who find typing on a large screen difficult as they would be able to adjust the size of the keyboard layout according to the preferred size or side.

Do not disturb while driving

This feature in iOS 11 will help drivers stay more focused on the road while driving. Apple said that iPhone can detect when you may be driving and automatically silence notifications to keep the screen dark. You can attend to the message or send an auto reply to let them know that you cannot respond as you are driving.

Markup

iOS 11 comes with a deeper integration with Apple Pencil with Instant Markup and inline drawing. Users can also re-crop and markup a screenshot directly instead of going to the camera to do so.

Indoor maps

iOS 11 will support indoor mall and airport maps around the world. "Indoor maps will allow you to see which restaurants are past airport security. And you can also see which stores are on what levels in the malls," said Apple. It also comes with lane guidance feature which will help you avoid missing a turn or exit by recommending the lane you should be in while navigating.

Apple's iOS 11 is also expected to add a new feature to its 3D Touch for Safari that will make swap between tabs easier. It has a redesigned Podcasts app, redesigned app drawer in iMessage, more customisation in Control Center, enhanced Apple Music and Apple News and improved password management.
