South Korean auto major Hyundai has released images of its 2016 Elite i20 model, giving a glimpse at the model ahead of its debut in the country in February. The new Elite i20, updated with features like projector headlight, will be one of the main attractions of the Hyundai pavilion at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016.

The highlight of the new 2016 Hyundai Elite i20 model is its projector headlamps with cornering lights and LED daytime running lights, which will now be standard on the Asta (O) — the top-end variant of the hatchback. The top-end Asta (O) also gets Audio Video Navigation system with a 7.0-inch display, while the base variants of the Elite i20 feature LCD screen. Hyundai currently offers projector headlamps with cornering lights and LED DRLs in the i20 Active crossover.

The 2016 Elite i20 also gets dual airbags as standard across all variants, including the base variant Era. It was reported earlier that the company has discontinued the mid-level Sportz (O) trim of the Elite i20. Under the hood, the 2016 Elite i20 hatchback is unchanged, and continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.4-litre CRDi diesel motor. While the petrol engine can churn out 81.8bhp of power and peak torque of 114Nm, the diesel motor is tuned to generate 88.7bhp of power and peak torque of 220Nm. There is no automatic transmission on offer in the new Elite i20.

Hyundai Elite i20 competes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Honda Jazz in India.
