Korean auto maker Hyundai's second generation hatchback i20 is coming our way. The car has been spied testing again in the country, consolidating our belief that the car could make its way to the domestic market by September this year.

The new generation i20 codenamed 'IB' has been seen testing in various cities for quite some time now. The latest set of pictures is from Chennai by Motor Vikatan's readers . Expected to receive major changes in both interior as well as exterior front, the new i20 is likely to draw its power from 1.4-liter diesel and 1.2-liter Kappa2 engine mated to either a five-speed or a six-speed manual transmission in India.

While the petrol engine is expected to churn out 83 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque, the diesel engine is to give 89 bhp of power and 219 Nm of torque. In the international market, the car is likely to be offered with 1.1 liter 3 pot diesel engine, 1.2 liter 4 pot gasoline engine, 1.0 and 1.4 liter diesel motors.

The car, which is expected to make its global debut in October at Paris Motor Show, is likely to parade a slew of feature like climate control, keyless entry, steering mounted audio controls, reverse camera, parking sensors and automatic day/night interior mirror. As far exterior concerned, the major tweaks would be in the rear and front fascia, including reworked headlight, tail light and bumper.

While the carmaker has so far refrained from announcing the India launch date of the new generation i20, regular sightings of the upcoming car testing across the country tell us that the launch of the car is not too far.

When launched in India, i20 will be pegged against Maruti Suzuki Swift, Fiat Punto, Tata Bolt, Toyota Etios Liva and Ford Figo and if recent reports are to be believed, the car will fall in the price range of 6-8 lakh ex-showrooms.

Korean car maker's premium hatchback i30 is also expected to make its India entry during the festive season this year. Globally, the Hyundai i30 comes in three versions - three-door, five-door and an Estate. As of now India bound i30 specifications are not known, but the reports indicate that the car would be priced in the sub ₹ 10 lakh price bracket.
