Ford India has launched its new version of Fiesta in the country on Thursday at a starting price of ₹7.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new refreshed 2014 Ford Fiesta facelift packs slew of changes from the sedan's outgoing model and is only available with a diesel engine. Powered by 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel motor, which can generate a power of 91 PS and peak torque of 204 Nm, the new avatar of Ford sedan promises a return of 25.01 km/l, as against the earlier model's 23.5 kmpl.
2014 Ford Fiesta facelift will be offered in three trims - Ambiente, Trend and Titanium in the country. The car which will take on the likes of Honda city, Skoda Rapid and the Hyundai Verna in the country wears Aston Martin inspired grille, revised bumper, new headlights and taillights.
Beside this, height-adjustable steering wheel, driver side airbag, ABS, EBD and electrically adjustable mirrors are some of the standard features offered across all variants. The top end variant of the model Titanium gets automatic wipers, automatic headlights, electrically folding mirrors, keyless entry and go, passenger airbag and latest version of SYNC 'Emergency Assist' feature from EcoSport.
Talking of the interior of the vehicle, the new Fiesta is spruced up with new black-beige colour dashboard, seats and upholstery and a gloss-black center console. The Fiesta Ambiente is priced at ₹7.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the Trend and Titanium carry a price tag of ₹8.55 lakh and ₹9.29 lakh respectively.
With the launch of the refreshed version of Fiesta, Ford looks forward to cement its current position in the domestic market. In May, Ford India posted over two-fold increase in total sales at 12,288 units in May 2014, as against the 5,993 units in the same month last year. The domestic sales were up 51.24 percent to 6,053 units in May as against 4,002 units in the same month previous year.
The company's recently revealed Ford Ka+ sedan will join the Ford's Indian portfolio next year. Ford Ka+, a a sub-4 meter sedan in India is likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder flex-fuel engine, which is tuned to produce 85 hp of power and 105 Nm of torque. The high-end trim of the sedan is likely to get a 1.5 liter engine, which can generate 111 hp.
