"2 States" is holding on well at the box office windows during the weekdays in second week. The romantic film starring Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead roles has been doing extremely well in the weekdays and has been declared as a super hit film of 2014.

The collection on second Tuesday was better than Monday's and since Thursday is a holiday across the country the film is expected to fetch well.

Till now the film has taken its overall score to more than ₹83 crore at the domestic market. And it's now reaching fast towards the coveted ₹100 crore club in India.

The film made on a budget of ₹35 crore was released in around 2000 screens in India. But despite the less number of screen count, "2 States" has performed extremely well at the box offices.

The film now rests at the second position in the list of highest grossing film of 2014, after Salman Khan's "Jai Ho."

The film performed well due to the mesmerizing chemistry between the lead pair Bhatt and Kapoor. Also, since it is a family entertainer, the film was not just limited to a particular generation.

"It was a youth oriented love story with all the traditional Indian ingredients packaged to contemporary tastes. The film took off on a good note, opening to almost packed houses at multiplexes," trade expert Vinod Mirani told Financial Express.

"2 States" is directed by Abhishek Varman and jointly produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala. The romantic film also features actors Ronit Roy, Amrita Singh, Shiv Kumar Subramaniam and Revathy in important roles.
