Two men, who were accused of raping and murdering a woman, were beaten to death by an angry mob in the Dibrugarh district of Assam on Saturday.

The angry mob lynched the two accused men in a tea garden, according to the local newspaper, Assam Times.

The woman was allegedly raped and murdered at a tea garden in the Chabua area of the Dibrugarh district of Assam, on Thursday.

The victim's family looked for her the entire day, after filing a report with the local police. Their efforts, however, turned up fruitless. The two men accused of the double crime refused to turn up at the police station, when summoned.

After finding the victim's body on Friday morning, the family and the angry mob went looking for the two suspects. The duo was beaten up in the tea garden and hanged to death, without being given any proper trial.

Neither the police, nor the media were allowed to enter the tea garden, by the angry mob. The family alleged that the police were reluctant to take any definitive steps to arrest the two men.
