Overview:

Resuming at 37 for no loss on the second day of the first Test, India's batting line-up was rattled by Shane Shillingford (four for 130). Wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli fell in quick succession, pushing the host to the edge before Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin came to the rescue.

Shillingford ripped through the top order in the first session on day 2, taking four vital wickets. It looked like India would end the first innings on a low total at one point of time with the score standing at 83 for five, but Rohit and Ashwin put up a brave fight. The host ended the second day on 354 for six, to lead the West Indies's score of 234 by 120 runs.

Debutant Rohit, who is batting at 127, and Ashwin (92) will resume play on day 3. They will try to score some quick runs and help the team take a huge lead.

On the other hand, West Indies will be keen to wrap up India's first innings as early as possible on Friday and restrict the lead.
