Two American teenage girls, inspired by fictional character Slender Man, stabbed their friend 19 times on Saturday in the City of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Both the suspects, aged 12, have been charged as adults and could face up to 65 years in jail if convicted.

Apparently, the girls had planned to kill the victim several months before, Waukesha police said in a press release. The victim is also a 12-year-old and is known to the girls who tried to kill her.

The incident happened on Saturday morning (31 May), when the suspects lured the victim into a wooded area. One of the suspects held the victim down, while the other stabbed her on her legs, arm and torso 19 times.

"The three girls had a sleepover at the house of one of the suspects' on Friday night. In the morning the two girls lured the victim into the woods near Big Bend Road south of Rivera Drive to play a game," police said in a statement, which has been obtained by HollywoodLife.com.

The girls then left the injured girl lying in the woods. The victim managed to crawl and came to the road where a bicyclist found her lying. She was immediately rushed to a hospital for surgery.

The girl is in stable condition, according to the police. Police later arrested the suspects and the knife used to stab the girl was also taken into custody.

The girls in their statement to the police said that they are fans of the Creepypasta website and planned to stab their friend to please the mythical creature Slender Man.

The girls believed that by killing their friend they would become 'proxies' of Slender Man. One of the suspects also said that the Slender Man came to her in her dreams.
