Chiyaan Vikram has registered a fantastic opening at the Chennai box office once again with his latest movie "10 Endrathukulla" (10 Enradhukulla). The film has also surpassed new release "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" (Nanum Rowdydhaan) in its first weekend.

As per Behindwoods, "10 Endrathukulla" has earned Rs 1.65 crore in its five-day first weekend. This is a good opening for Vikram's movie, say traders. The movie got stupendous response on the release day, but saw a gradual dip in collection due to average reviews.

However, it has beaten "Naanum Rowdy Thaan", which minted Rs 1.44 crore in its opening weekend. This is the best opening for a Vijay Sethupathi movie in Chennai as earning just Rs 20+ lakh lesser than Vikram's movie is a big achievement.

The major advantage that "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" has is the good word-of-mouth. "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" has been praised by critics and audience and even celebrities are raving about the flick. Hence, Vijay Sethupathi and Nayantara starrer movie is expected to surpass the business of Vikram's film in the coming days.

"Rudhramadevi" starring Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati is in the third position. It earned Rs 13.72 lakh in its second weekend in Chennai to take its total to Rs 1.22 crore.

Nayantara's "Maya" is still being played in some screens in Chennai. It raked in Rs 1.87 lakh in its sixth weekend to take its total tally to Rs 3.29 crore. Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swamy starrer "Thani Oruvan" has collected Rs 1.57 lakh to take its total tally to 6.63 crore by the end of the ninth weekend.

Vijay's "Puli" and Telugu movie "Bruce Lee – The Fighter" starring Ram Charan Teja are the other movies being played in Chennai.

Coming back to "10 Endrathukulla" and "Naanum Rowdy Thaan", the movies have done good business in Tamil Nadu, but the official numbers are yet to be revealed.
