A stampede has been reported at the Tirumala temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, and at least 10 people are believed to have been injured in the incident on Saturday.

The pilgrimage of Lord Venkateswara is seeing a heavy rush with summer vacations coming to an end and also with the announcements of various exams results.

A special pooja called the Sahasra Kalasabhishekam was scheduled on May 26 because of which there was a heavy rush at the Tirumala temple.

The injured devotees are said to have been admitted to nearby hospitals and heavy police force has been deployed near the temple premises.

According to News24, a minor stampede happened in the main complex which caused panic among the pilgrims, but an NDTV report said that officials denied the stampede.
