1. Chennai Express

The Shah Rukh Khan starrer is the highest opening day grosser in India earning ₹33.12 crore on the first day of its release, according to Bollywoodhungama.

"Chennai Express", which released on 9 August, smashed several records of other Hindi films. The Rohit Shetty directorial grossed ₹227.13 in lifetime collections in India. Its worldwide collections reportedly stand at ₹420 crore.

The action-comedy entertainer just needed four days to cross the coveted ₹100-crore mark. The film also took just 15 days to surpass the ₹200-crore mark in India, which has so far been achieved only by three films including "Chennai Express", "Krrish 3" and "3 Idiots".

2. Ek Tha Tiger

Salman Khan's "Ek Tha Tiger" takes the second spot in the list of top 10 opening day grossers in India. The action entertainer, which released on 15 August, collected ₹32.93 crore on its opening day.

The film's lifetime collections from India is pegged at ₹198.78 crore. It took just five days to reach the ₹100 crore club, but missed the ₹200-crore club by just ₹2.22 crore.

3. Krrish 3

Hrithik Roshan's superhero flick "Krrish 3" earned ₹25.50 crore on its debut day, which makes it the third highest opening day grosser in India.

"Krrish 3", which released on 1 November, is doing great business not just in India but also in overseas markets. The film fetched ₹228.44 crore (as of 15th November) surpassing "Chennai Express" collections.

Bollywood had to wait for four years to see a film ("Chennai Express") that could break "3 Idiots" (2009) record. But in a span of just over three months, "Krrish 3" smashed "Chennai Express" record and emerged as the highest grossing Bollywood film.

The sci-fi flick took four days to reach the ₹100-crore club (in India) and needed just 10 days to cross ₹200 crore. Of all three films in the ₹200-crore club, "Krrish 3" took the least number of days to enter the elite club. While "Chennai Express" took 15 days to reach ₹200 crore, "3 Idiots" achieved the same in 70 days.

"Krrish 3" is still having a good run at the box office. It remains to be seen if the film will start the ₹300-crore club in India.

4. Agneepath

Hrithik starrer "Agneepath" earned ₹23 crore in its opening day in India. The film, which released on 26 January 2012, raked in ₹115 crore in lifetime collections in the country.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, "Agneepath" is a remake of the Amitabh starrer of the same name. The film did good business at the box office upon release. The action entertainer took only 11 days to reach ₹100 crore.

5. Bodyguard

Salman Khan's "Bodyguard", a remake of a Malayalam film of the same name, fetched ₹21.60 crore on its debut day.

The commercial entertainer took seven days to reach ₹100 crore, but it did not make it to ₹200 crore club. The film collected ₹148.86 crore in lifetime collections (India business alone).

Directed by Siddique, "Bodyguard" has Kareena Kapoor Khan, Raj Babbar and Hazel Keech in pivotal roles.

6. Besharam

Ranbir Kapoor's "Besharam" is the sixth highest opening day grosser with a collection of ₹21.56 crore.

The film, which released on 2 October, was panned by critics. Despite getting bad reviews, the film registered a good opening thanks to Ranbir's star power. But, its collections began to decline in the following days. The comedy-masala film, directed by Abhinav Kashyap of "Dabangg" fame, failed to make it to the ₹100-crore club.

7. Dabangg 2

Salman Khan's "Dabangg 2" fetched ₹21.10 crore on its opening day. The action entertainer, a sequel to "Dabangg", performed well at the box office.

The film, which released on 21 December 2012, minted ₹155 crore in lifetime collections at the Indian box office.

8. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Ranbir Kapoor's "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" (YJHD) is one of the biggest hits of 2013.

The romantic entertainer earned ₹19.45 crore on the first day of its release. The film is positioned at the eight spot in the list of top 10 opening day grossers in India.

The Ayan Mukherjee directorial brought former flames Ranbir and Deepika together once again after their 2008-release "Bachna Ae Haseeno." Their chemistry is one of the main highlights of the film. "YJHD" won positive feedback from critics and audience alike, which helped the film fetch good collections at the box office. It earned ₹188.57 crore in lifetime collections (India). It took only seven days to enter into the elite ₹100-crore club.

9. Ra.One

Shah Rukh Khan's sci-fi flick "Ra.One" raked in ₹18.50 crore in its opening day. The film, which released in 2011, fetched ₹114.29 crore in lifetime collections.

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, "Ra.One" has Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Armaan Verma in pivotal roles.

10. Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela

Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone's "Ram-leela", which released on 15 November, has opened well at the Indian box office.

"Ram-leela" has earned ₹16 crore in its first day and has taken the 10th spot in the list of highest opening day grossers in India.

The romantic-drama flick has won positive feedback from critics, who have termed is as the best ever Bollywood adaptation of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet".

The Ranveer starrer is the fifth biggest opener of 2013 next to "Chennai Express", "Krrish 3", "Besharam" and "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani."

"Ram-leela" has got the biggest opening for a Ranveer starrer and is the third biggest opener for the film's leading actress Deepika Padukone.
