The satellite rights of the year's awaited film "Dhoom 3", which unites Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif for the first time on screen, was reportedly sold to Sony Television.

According to reports, the satellite rights of the third instalment of "Dhoom" franchise which is produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF) was sold to Sony Television for a whopping amount of ₹75 crore.

Although no formal announcement has been made regarding the deal, Bollywood Hungama stated, "In fact the makers have signed a ₹ 75 crore deal with Sony acquiring the proprietorship for the film's television rights."

A Yash Raj spokesperson refused to make any comments stating, "We wouldn't like to comment on any speculation."

"Dhoom 3", which is still in the production stage, also has Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra resuming their roles of ACP Jai Dixit and sub-inspector Ali Akbar Fateh Khan, respectively. Not much was revealed about Katrina's role in the film, it is said that Aamir Khan will play the role of a circus gymnast in the film.

"Dhoom 3" has been in the news ever since the makers roped in Aamir and Katrina for the lead roles. Recently, the action-packed film drew media attention after it was rumoured that Aamir had pushed YRF to add an exclusive clause in the contract which states that the production house will not make any more sequels after "Dhoom 3".

A YRF spokesperson denied the report saying that the "Dhoom" franchise will go on.

"Dhoom 3" is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra. The film is set hit the screens on 25 December.
