Ravi Teja's "Balupu" has not only impressed the critics but also film buffs around the world.

"Balupu" has made a good start at the US box office and is reportedly performing better than Bollywood film, "Ghanchakkar", starring Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan.

"Telugu film #Balupu has fetched a good start in USA. As per early trends, the film is much, much ahead of #Ghanchakkar," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Interestingly, the film has also made it to the top 20 list in the US. Adding Thursday's preview and Friday's collections, the film has raked in $86,321 (around ₹51 lakh) in just two days. [Also read "Balupu" review]

"Telugu film #Balupu features in USA Top 20 list [Friday BO]. No 19 position. Thu previews + Fri total: $ 86,321. Data still being updated," Taran tweeted.

"Balupu" is doing good business at the domestic box office too. The Ravi Teja-starrer collected ₹3.89 crore on the opening day in Andhra Pradesh.

"Balupu" has won accolades from film critics, who have termed it as a commercial pot boiler with all the key elements that film buffs would expect in Ravi Teja's film. Having received positive feedback, the film is expected to perform well over the weekend at domestic as well as overseas box office.

There are no big Telugu releases for a week until Suriya's "Singam" ("Singam 2" in Tamil) hits the theatres on 5 July.

"Balupu" is set to have a solo run for a week at the box office and is expected to rake in more money.

The film stars Shruti Haasan, Brahmanandam, Prakash Raj, Anjali and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. The highlights of the film are Ravi's punch dialogues and action, and Brahmanandam's comedy.
