The top five contestants of "American Idol" 2014 will perform live for public vote on Wednesday, and this time they will sing two songs apiece chosen by America.

The live performance episode will be telecast at 9:00 pm EST Wednesday on Fox (7:30am IST, Thursday). Last week's elimination round saw CJ Harris being sent home.

Wednesday's episode will be challenging for the contestants, as America will test their singing prowess with the songs of their choice. Jason Mraz will help the remaining hopefuls this week.

CJ Harris was sent home last week after facing elimination for the fourth time. He sang the farewell song, "Can't You See" by Marshall Tucker Band.

The remaining top five finalists of this year's "American Idol" are Jena Irene, Sam Woolf, Alex Preston, Jessica Meuse and Caleb Johnson.

Last week saw contestants sing two songs each belonging to rock and country genres. Jena Irene sang "Barracuda" by Heart and Carrie Underwood's "So Small", while Sam Woolf sang "It's Time" by Imagine Dragons and "You're Still the One" by Shania Twain.

CJ Harris, who was eliminated, rendered The Guess Who's "American Woman" and "Whatever It Is" by Zac Brown Band. Alex Preston performed "Animal" by Neon Trees and Willie Nelson's "Always On My Mind", while Jessica Meuse sang "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane and Dolly Parton's "Jolene". Caleb Johnson rendered "Sting Me" by Black Crowes and "Undo It" by Carrie Underwood.

The top five finalists may have to perform some challenging and unexpected songs on Wednesday, as American audience may try to push them out of their comfort zones.
