Akshay Kumar's heist drama "Special 26" registered good business on Saturday at theaters across India. The multi-starrer film opened with an average response in the country with ₹7 crore in collections on its opening day.

Considering the start cast, rave reviews and positive word of mouth, the film picked up during the weekend and minted approximately ₹9 crore. The two-day total of the film stands at approximately ₹16 crore in India.

The business on Saturday at multiplexes in key markets showed excellent growth as compared to the earnings on Friday. The collection is expected to rise further on Sunday.

"Special 26" is a heist drama based on a real life story of con artists. It features an impressive star cast that includes Jimmy Shergill, Manoj Bajpai, Anupam Kher and Kajal Agrawal.

The film was released across 1750 screens in India along with Remo D'Souza3D dance film "ABCD: Any Body Can Dance". "ABCD" has no big star cast except Prabhu Deva and was released in 750 screens in India. Its first day collection was far more than that of Akshay's "Special 26".

"ABCD" collected ₹5.5 crore on the first day in India from 750 screens (400 3D screens + 350 2D screens).

Meanwhile, at the overseas box offices the film is getting a lukewarm response. After two days, it raked in ₹59.96 lakh (£ 70,923) from UK, ₹30.05 lakh (A$ 54,435) from Australia and ₹11.07 lakh (NZ$ 24,734) from New Zealand, according to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
